At some point in our lives it’s highly likely we will all experience some form of lower back pain (LBP).
Not only can this be extremely frustrating but it can literally be very debilitating and if we don’t act on it can lead us to a life of long lasting persistent pain.
So how can we best over come LBP?
The first thing we should know is that LBP is extremely common among the general public and that with the right guidance and mindset we can not only overcome LBP we can also build healthy habits and routines into our lives that will keep us moving well and pain free well into the future.
Here’s some key points for you;
85% of people with LBP all recover fully in 12 months with literally no intervention, so that’s great news to start with!! General exercises like squats, push ups, sit ups work just as effectively as “special” exercises like glute bridges, planks, postural retraining etc.
Just moving your body is helping your pain enormously. Psychosocial factors like fear avoidance, catastrophizing and negative pain beliefs play a major roll in ones outcomes of LBP.
Try not to let it worry you because let’s remember point 1 above!!
Best practice is to focus on strengthening the whole body with graded exercise and stay active.
Make yourself as strong as possible not only physically but mentally.
Your lower back pain is very real, but please know that you CAN get yourself out of that pain and moving freely again.
